Garrapata State Park lies north of Big Sur, and south of Point Lobos. Two amazing adventures to check out on the California Coast. Garrapata Sate Park is another cool adventure to explore if you are in the area. It promotes great coastal views and is known for it’s aggressive beach line. You can’t swim or surf here. The tides are extremely powerful!

There are some trails on top of the bluff as you look down into the coast. A trail also brings you directly on the beach where you can travel up and down the coast. The waves are intense though and the rock formations will enter the shore-line so in some areas it is difficult to pass. There was one section where I was legitimately stuck in. I had to climb the rocks to get out of this cove. It was intense.

Check out my video at the end of the article. I definitely had a lot of fun!!!

I eventually climbed the rocks behind me. Literally couldn’t find a break to get back to the beach. It was a lot of fun!

Another great location just north of this section, still south of Point Lobos, are some viewpoints right off of Highway 1. This section is extraordinarily beautiful and I highly recommend you stop here.

In my eyes the section from Big Sur to Point Lobos is my favorite section on the California Coast because not only are both Big Sur and Point Lobos beautiful, but the unheard of places in-between are amazing too!

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed this article!
