I had Orcas just feet away from me Sea Kayaking (video at end of article)!!!! San Juan Island is the perfect setting if you want to go Sea Kayaking and Whale Watching. This family-owned company, Crystal Seas Kayaking (kayaking excursions) and San Juan Excursions (whale watching) is a great company to go through! There so great that if you go on a whale-watching tour, and not see a whale, you can go again, for FREE!

You can go on their website. Reservations are highly recommended, especially during the summer time.

Crystal Seas Kayaking:

Offers 3 Hour Sunset, Day, and Multi-Day Tours. These groups are held in small groups with naturalist guides to help you learn about the flora and fauna nearby. The staff are all very knowledgeable. Every question I asked they were able to answer!!!

You do not need to be experienced to go on these tours, the staff teach you everything you need to know. You meet right at their business, which is at Friday Harbor, and they give you a complimentary shuttle to where you go out into the water, which will be on the West side of the island, where you will most likely see the Orcas!

I did the sunset tour and it was amazing! I did see the Orcas and it was such an unforgettable experience! But even if you don’t get a chance to see them, you are literally kayaking in the ocean watching the sunset! I mean, win-win situation in my eyes! And most likely you will see other sea creatures if not the whales. We got a chance to see the seals swimming near-by also!

Crystal Seas Kayaking also has bicycling tours around the island!  And they also offer package deals where you can bike and kayak and either stay at Inns or even camping. So if you’re on a budget, they also have a cheaper option.

Or you can just do kayaking and camping or bicycling and camping. The company has so many offers where basically they have something for everyone. I would either call or check out all their tours on their website!

Most kayaking tours average around $85.

San Juan Excursions:

This company is Crystal Seas Kayaking sister company, where literally one sister partly owns San Juan Excursion and one sister partly owns Crystal Seas Kayaking! Pretty cool!!!

They have a 65 foot vessel which takes you out whale-watching for 3 1/2 to 4 hours. The “Odyssey” has room up to 97 passengers but limits their tours to 80 people just so the visitor has comfort and has an adequate amount of space on their tour.

They offer discounts to Seniors, Military, Teachers, College Students, AAA members, and groups of 10 or more. The cost is 99 dollars for adults so the price is very reasonable, in my eyes. And children 2-12 years of age is $69. Infants are free!

I made a video of when I went sea kayaking with Crystal Seas Kayaking. I hope you enjoy. The video is not long but there are some sections where you won’t see Orcas. Keep watching though, they tend to pop up out of no where!!!

Hope you enjoyed this article!
