Outdoor Research Gaiters
Pros: Very light-weight. You don’t even feel them on your feet. People that thru-hike long trails such as the Pacific Crest Trail or Appalachian trail know what their talking about because they literally hike thousands of miles. Almost every hiker you see on these long trails have these gaiters and they have them for a reason. They work! They keep out most of everything out of your shoes. So when your hiking all day, you don’t have to stop to shake out your shoes filled with stones, dirt, sand, twigs, etc. They are also breathable. You don’t have to worry about your ankles sweating!
Cons: An extra piece of equipment you have to worry about. More of a want than a necessity.
