Do you want to travel but don’t do it because of money? “If I’m living paycheck to paycheck here, how the hell could I ever afford to travel,” you ask yourself. Most people in this world right now are living paycheck to paycheck. And that feeling sucks! I should know, I’m one of them.
If you are living your life with little money where you don’t want to be, then you can definitely live your life where you do want to be, even if it is still paycheck to paycheck. At least your somewhere you want to live! And chances are, things might turn around for you, and you might do way better than expected. Traveling has a funny way of opening up doors of opportunity.
All of us are different. We have different goals and different preferences but you at least owe it to yourself to be happy. Money controls most people on this planet. Be the small amount it doesn’t affect. Money will always be there. It isn’t going anywhere. It is here in my hometown Buffalo, NY, and it’s in Italy, New Zealand, Canada, Brazil, Norway, Thailand, and pretty much every other country.
There are jobs all over the place. All you have to do is look, and want it. Even if you go somewhere else and are still living on a budget, at least you are where you want to be. If you are already use to living on a budget, it shouldn’t be that big of a deal.
As an example, I have always wanted to visit New Zealand. If I do not have the money to travel there and sustain myself to be there for a while with out a job, I will have to get one. I was thinking…. kiwi picking. Not the most glamorous job, but hey, if it gets me to New Zealand, it will be worth it. You could always even go for working in a hostel or on a farm and do WOOFING.
Woofing is a worldwide organization that focuses on organic farming. You work on an organic farm, and stay for free. Sometimes you even get paid. Just a way to travel for little money.
I believe if a person wants something bad enough, they will figure it out. I just want people to know, that you don’t need to come from money in order to travel. Save money before you travel and find ways to save when you are traveling. Stay somewhere for free doing couchsurfing. And this is actually reputable and safe. You can literally stay somewhere for free. This isn’t long term though. Woofing is more long-term, like a month or longer.
My goal was to save 5,000 for my travel fund. But, then I actually reached my goal and Thank God I did, because I quickly realized, that 5 grand wouldn’t be enough. So now hopefully I will have more and can be a little more less stressed on the money aspect of it all. It is hard to travel with little money. It really is. Everything adds up so quickly!
You might be thinking 5 grand, or more! There’s no way I can do that. Well first you have to think of how much you’ll need. Some people won’t need that much, but if you do. Don’t sweat it. I do not have a high paying job by any means. I just made saving money my number one priority. For more information on saving money, go to my other article Save money.
My advice. Go for your dreams, and don’t worry about money. It will always be there! And if you can figure it out in a place you don’t want to be, you will most definitely find it in a place you do want to be. I get it, change is scary. But, you will never know what could be in your amazing future if you don’t try.
