Monterey Bay is filled with beaches, parks, an enormous aquarium, other attractions, and the well-known 17 mile drive. This 17 mile drive,  loops around Monterey Bay visiting beaches, golf-coarses and vistas along the way.

You get a map that shows you all your destinations and where you can find them.

Along this route, there are 21 different stops. You follow the dotted red line all the way through this 17 mile stretch as it weaves around people’s homes, rich homes.

I will say this, and I am just being honest here. This stretch costs 10 dollars. I paid it because I wanted to see what it was all about.

I think the ten dollars is worth it if you are going to spend time there, not worried about money or haven’t seen much of the coast.

But if ten dollars mean something to you and you have seen a lot of the California coast, then I wouldn’t. Especially if you have seen Big Sur already and Point Lobos. Your not missing much.

I mean don’t get me wrong, I think its very pretty, it just got less appealing to me when I realized you had to pay ten dollars to see it. It is not a state park. These people are just making you pay because the sights are pretty. There are plenty of free vista points all along the coast! I got a little pissed off. I hate paying to use a road. I just don’t think it’s right. OK. Done venting. Moving on.

It is pretty though. There are cypress trees that make the views pop. It is also a good destination to view marine wildlife. I saw a seal just laying on a rock.

So yes, totally your decision on checking out the 17 mile drive. Is it pretty? Yes, I very much think so. It is worth ten dollars, well that’s on you I guess. Who knows, maybe if you get there early enough you can get in for free. If there is no one at the pay station you don’t have to pay right?

Well, hope you enjoyed this article and have a great day!
